                                   Polar Bears

Have you ever read a book about Polar Bears? They are

pretty big creatures. If you have not read about polar bears. Polar bears are very fascinating animals.

Have you ever wondered about adaptations polar bears have in order to survive freezing temperatures? I will tell you about text 1 and text 2. Text 1 is called At Home In The Artic and text 2 is called Polar Bears: A Life On Ice. Also let me tell you more about this and how global warming affects the way polar bears live.

                                      Global Warming

Global warming is having an impact on polar bears. First of all, I will tell you how global warming is affects polar bears. Global warming is the gradual rising temperatures of the Earth due to additional release of carbon dioxide by human activities. Also because polar bears depend on ice to find seals less ice time means they may not get enough to eat and energy burned to run cars, trucks, homes and factories can produce lots of carbon dioxide.

Instead of burning energy you could ride a bike instead of using a car you could also turn of the lights when you are not using it. And also because global warming today there are only about 20,000 polar bears in the Artic now. And energy-saving actions could help polar bears thrive |Survive| in the artic for years to come. Long ago many humans hunted polar bears for their fur and all countries with polar bears passed laws to protect polar bears from being over hunted. And that global warming was caused Artic ice to melt earlier.

                                      Adaptations

Polar bears have adaptations to help them survive. Second of all, I will tell you about the adaptations that polar bears have.  And Polar Bears favorite food is ringed seals. The ringed seals mostly hang out in the icy Artic waters. So the polar bears can or might catch the ringed seals.

All the Polar bears need to eat but the mother Polar Bear really needs to chow down and flatten up before winter. The mother Polar Bear won't eat again for 4 months or longer! And the mother Polar Bear uses up a lot of stored fat to make milk for her cubs. Also once the mother Polar Bears cubs are old enough, They follow there mother out into the icy world. When its spring the sea ice will be melting soon mother Polar Bears cubs will be hungry cubs will trail along learning who to hunt for. Polar Bears are super swimmers the artic sea where polar bears live should freeze. 2 layers of thick fur keeps a Polar Bear warm.

Polar Bears Fur and Skin:

2 layers of thick fur keeps a Polar  Bear warm. The fur may look white, but each hair is actually see-through. The skin beneath is black, which absorbs warmth from the sun. Polar Bears Nose, this sensitive sniffer can smell a seal on the ice from more than a mile away. The nostrils close tightly underwater. That keeps a swimming bear from getting a houseful of icy water! Polar Bears Paws, these dinner plate-sized paws are slightly webbed to help swimming. Bumpy footpads help them grip slippery ice. Polar Bears Teeth, Sharp Teeth are great for catching food and tearing off hunks of fat and flesh. But these teeth don’t chew. Most hunks are swallowed whole.

Conclusion

In conclusion, You have learned all about polar bears, their adaptations and how global warming affects the polar bears. I am sure that you now understand that polar bears should be kept safe.

We should take care of our Earth and think about our own energy conservation. These are only some ways you can help polar bears live there heathy lives. And I hope you will take care of the environment.
